Boarding their flight to a location unknown, the soon-to-be castaways rub their hands together with excitement, not knowing what adventure the future holds for them.
Little do they or the producers know what is truly in store for them. Halfway across the northern Pacific, a blinding light suddenly sears through the aircraft. The passengers discover that the pilot has been sent into seizures by the screams of the terrified flight attendants. The cockpit door is locked tight.
After the panic has been calmed, the flight attendants are able to switch the plane onto auto-pilot. The monitor in the locked cockpit turns on and begins scanning the area. It searches and searches for the nearest islands to land on safely. Unbeknownst to any of the passengers, the computer finally hones in on a set of islands. Islands that oddly do not appear on the map. As the landmass appears in more detail on the screen, a name appears:
Another flash of light sends all passengers into unconsciousness. When they awake, they will discover and explore the last unexplored area on Earth, a place never before seen by human eyes...
You awake.
You feel an irritating tightness around your waist. It's getting a little hard to breathe as the weight on your stomach shortens your breath.
Damn that stupid airplane seat belt, you think. You're more likely to crash in a bus and they don't have seat belts on those!
You reach down to loosen the belt and unbuckle it. It is the absence of the belt and the rocks on your belly that that triggers your memory of what just occurred.
A dragonfly flies by your head as you begin to stand and examine your surroundings. You are in the center of a gigantic valley with huge mountains on three sides of you. The land is fertile and green, and steep mountains obsure your view everywhere but straight forward. It's like you were dropped into a gigantic hole in the ground. Airplane chairs, luggage, scraps of metal adorn the landscape.
Two sensations hit you simulataneously: the sound of another voice and the shake and crumbling of the earth behind you. Luckily for you, you choose to look behind and see that an avalanche of rock, dirt, and debris is hurtling toward you from the mountain. You are about to be swept away. You dash forward and to the side and run straight into someone, both of you collapsing to the grass.
After both of you collect your composure, you realize that it is another passenger that has survived the crash. He guides you down the field where you see a makeshift camp, a fire and a few other survivors.
You notice that the group looks to be a good, medium size.
The day goes by and you swap stories, theorize about what happened, and plan on how to get out of here. As night falls, you notice a small path in the valley, heading outwards. It marks the beginning of the fantastic adventure of Asteria.
