Heya!
This is just a little thing where I write something individually before the game starts. Because when that happens, I can not even mention like your past activities or how you did in other games or mention basically anything at all about you or your gameplay. Maybe I'll give some advice on what to do or just reminisce about the game you played in. Now remember I haven't like deeply studied the game and all the confessionals you wrote before typing this, so I'm just going off a general perspective of the really big things from my point of view. Some of the little details might be wrong but I'll try my best. So now the form letter part of this ends and the personalized part starts after this sentence. =)
Mark! I'm glad to have you back. You are undoubtedly one of the most exciting and unique players I've ever watched play any game I've ever done. From the beginning of your game and making friends, to surviving the craziness as everyone left Cheshire and the numbers got smaller, to learning more about the game and honing your skills in the post merge game. You did almost everything right and everything went your way up until that damned Final Seven vote. >< I honestly saw you as a definite contender for Sole Survivor and assured a top spot no matter what happened. Kind like Rafe/Stephanie how for the entire season of Guatemala you know they are going to go incredibly far with no danger of being voted out lol.
I'm trying to think of perhaps better ways to play the post-merge Wonderland game but it's hard. You at the time were playing up your image of being open to new deals and not solidified in an alliance which is why I think you agreed to vote out Eric/Joey. Even though I don't think Annette was necessarily for that 100%. It may have been for the best though, who knows what would have happened if those two were around.
Then Chuck switched and you were on the wrong side of a vote for the first time. You did play hard and you never gave up and in some ways the period after you lost the vote was more interesting than up to then. (I still think you would probably make the most interesting character / story of them all if this was aired on tv lol.) Easily the most interesting and diverse story in all of Wonderland.
In terms of advice, there's only a few things I would recommend. Sometimes your eagerness for the game can be a little overbearing and forceful... I'm sure your Wonderland players can tell you about how they felt of constantly being reminded of how hopeless you felt things were at the time lol. Sometimes backing away is important and giving people space. Obviously you know how to make friends, alliances, and even enemies hehe. But when things don't go your way, you did the right thing in not giving up but you went along with it in the wrong way.
Traditionally (and this is by no means universal and maybe/probably doesn't even apply to a game with this many people lol), the strategy is pretty straight-forward if your alliance loses an important vote. Think about how Danni played it when her group lost after the merge and how Gary played it when his group lost with the switch. Now this is like 1,000 times harder it being only 4-2, but stay with me for a moment because you did like the exact opposite of the strategy lol.
First, once you lose a vote, you must be completely non-threatening. This includes A) not winning immunity or even getting close to it and maintaining your reputation of not being physically challenging and B) playing nice, making friends, accepting the change, and making other people laugh. Realistically you are not going to be able to move into a power position until there are only 2 or most likely 1 person left in your group. To be that last person you have to be trustworthy and make yourself open to suggestions and proposals by others in the main alliance wanting to break early. Proposing insistently your own strategy is a super-last ditch effort and most likely fruitless. You want to gently suggest things and put ideas in their head about who has a guaranteed victory, which pair is unbreakable, and who is already planning against them. Any little information you can gather is valuable. That way, hopefully they come to you with a plot (that they think that they have thought of ^^) and then you are golden.
For you in Wonderland, that would have meant organizing a revolution at the Final Five. However, you were so aggressive and forceful that no one could talk to you, work with you, or suggest anything. That situation called for passiveness.
That's not to say you did bad at all, you kicked ass totally. Fourth place is AMAZING. Very very very good, especially for a first game. I'm just trying to give you complete information and just not skimp on anything because I respect how you played the game and such a gracious player to host and that's why this has become like 5 times longer than everyone elses lol.
Anyway, use what you've learned and a little of what I've suggested, and you should go far.
Good Luck! =)
