You'd seen the gigantic, vertical, thing looming in the sky for as long as you can remember. It looked like a giant, upright pole. To you, it never ends, the upper section just vanishes into the sky.You didn't even realize it was a tree until you looked down and saw the shadow of the leaves. Looking back up, the leaves themselves cannot be seen. You make the surreal trip to the base of the tree, the ground getting harder below you. You can only imagine the extent of the roots of this massive tree. It must reach to the center of the earth. No wonder why there are no other trees around here - this one sucks up all the nutrients.
It begins to rain but you don't know it because you are under the safe canopy of the Pillar of Life. You lean your head against the bark and think to yourself: "Which way around this gigantic trunk am I going to go?"
Whichever way you choose, you can feel that something important lies around here.
