I just want to get this out there before the game starts so no one can accuse me of attacking anybody. Sorry if this takes long to read.
Online Survivors and the real thing on TV are two totally different things. The major difference is this: when you play Survivor online, you can record every conversation you have.
For example, I have this program called DeadAIM which is installed in my AIM. It logs every conversation and chat I have automatically. I have every convo I've ever had in the past year and a half stored on my computer.
This is very bad. Because in online Survivors, people WILL copy and paste their conversations over to other people. In the real Survivor on a desert island, do they get the video tapes of conversations they've had and be able to show them to others in order to reassure them? No of course not.
I know from experience that it feels great to read somebody else's conversation. It feels like you are snooping in, getting extra information and nobody is the wiser. To read two other people talking is refreshing. But I'm asking you not to do it, and I'll give you several reasons why. Keep in mind that I can't force it, but these reasons should give you great pause the next time somebody copy and pastes a conversation to you.
1) If they are showing you conversations, THEY ALREADY ARE showing other people your conversations.
Oh, naivete. You go along, getting inside information from somebody and you think you are clever because they are showing you all this info for nothing. But I guarantee you, if somebody is going to copy and paste conversations, they most definitely are going to copy and paste what you say to others. Do you want the whole tribe to hear (in your own words, no less!) your strategy? Do you want other people to see "SurvivorKid939(11:10:05 PM): yeah, I'll vote out Karen this time but i wanna go after Sarah next" ? Because they will. If someone sends you conversations, be careful - because what you say to them might not be safe.
2) It is so damn easy to fake conversations.
Haha, I've seen this a thousand times. And done it too! It is insanely easy to change conversations! I mean all you have to do is hit backspace and type in what you want. You can change the whole meaning of anything. You can fill in complete sentences if you want. You can erase words to create whole new meanings. It's crazy. And don't think that if they show you the message in that person's font it changes anything, because you can rewrite that just as easy. I wouldn't even trust it if I saw a screen shot of the conversation because I could fake that too.
3) The selected parts of the conversation you see are probably completely out of context!!
I can not stress this enough. The parts of the convo you see are meant solely to convince you of something or other, to manipulate you. Do you think that person is going to send you the whole thing (in which they probably say mean things about you) unedited? No of course not. They pick out the nice bits and only show you the parts that manipulate you as they want. Whenever I used to copy conversations, I only pick and choose the best parts to show. This changes the tone completely. Maybe this conversation wasn't even about this vote, it could of been a week ago. Or maybe they weren't even talking about you in particular!
Hilarious Related Sidebar - I played one Survivor game with a guy named J in which we had several conversations. He won that one. Then we played another game together... and I was in trouble. I needed to convince K that J was untrustworthy and wanted to backstab K in order to cause problems. Problem was... J didn't want to backstab K and I had no damning evidence.... from this game.
I looked through my convo's from the first game I played with J and found something perfect! About 20 lines of J being totally vague, saying he didn't feel "comfortable in his alliance" and that he didn't "trust the people he was with." No tribe names were mentioned. It was perfect!! I copied over this conversation I had with J about five months prior and K took it hook, line, and sinker.
In conclusion... DON'T COPY AND PASTE your conversations to each other! And when someone does copy and paste things to you, please keep everything I said in mind.
