A long time ago in a country long forgotten there lived a King and a Queen who loved each other madly. Their kingdom was beautiful and poverty was not yet a word that these subjects knew. The land was covered with dense forests, and rivers that were as blue as the sky above them. But yet there was something amiss in this peaceful and glorious land.

The problem that plagued the reigning couple was a lack of fertility. For the Queen was sadly barren. But when the wise women of the village came to the castle on the eve of the Queen’s twenty fifth birthday she blessed the young Queen with fertility for a year. Thankful for the woman’s blessing the Queen and the King threw a banquet in her honor. It was not but nine months after that miraculous day was when the Queen delivered her beautiful daughter, to which they bestowed the name Aurora.

On the day of Aurora’s birth the King and Regnant threw a gala for the arrival of their precious daughter. The King also gave sole benefactor of his kingdom to the young girl. But in sending their invitations they accidentally left out a single member of the wise women’s circle. This wise woman was an unkind sort who was less than trustworthy. And now she’d been given a reason to dislike the monarchs and their new born child.

Even though she had not received an invitation to the ball in favor of the princess Aurora on her name day the ignored wise woman attended. All the wise women had come to attend the ball so that they may bestow a gift upon the young princess and sole heir of the throne. They bestowed upon her such gifts as beauty, poise, elegance, hair as fine as gold, eyes as blue as a midday the heavens above and complexion so pale it could be called translucent.

Aurora was awarded with all the fine charms a princess should inherit. Just before the last of the wise women could bestow upon the princess the final present, the wise woman who had not been invited to the celebration arrived, and she appeared less than pleased. She approached the delicate crib of the baby heir she waved her staff at the youthful baby princess and started the spell to bestow her own present upon Aurora.

"delicate crib of the baby heir she waved her staff" but that's fine still over 300.

The wise women could have been deemed evil in her choice of present, for she had decided to foretell of the princess’s death at the puncture of a spindle. The curse was that Aurora, when she turned fifteen, would puncture herself on a spindle and after this event she would die. There was still hope for the princess in the form of the last of the wise women, whose present had been interrupted by the arrival of the immoral wise woman.

Rather than bestow such inane presents as attractiveness or poise the last of the wise women bestowed upon the princess the present of hope, the paramount present. She altered the evil wise woman’s curse so that rather than die when she touched the spindle, she would fall into a deep slumber from which none but her one true paramour could stir her. Still with the altered curse the Monarchs of the land were smitten with sadness.
